Born and raised in New York but now settled in Tornado Alley, Gina splits her time—and sometimes her personality—as a writer, teacher, and life balance coach. Gina’s writing journey began with a simple diary in second grade—and she’s never looked back. “From the moment I received my first diary,” she says, “I’ve been in love with the written word and the power it has to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another.” Whether she’s penning fiction or sharing real-life experiences, Gina’s stories are infused with faith, vulnerability, laughter, and hope.
Now, as an empty nester turned caregiver, Gina’s dreams of dancing around the world and crafting redemptive stories remain as vivid as ever. She’s built a life where writing, teaching, and adventure collide, and she thrives on helping others uncover their own stories along the way.
In her latest story, part of the Love Blooms on Valentine’s collection, Gina introduces us to Rosie—a cynical, disillusioned New Yorker who’s given up on love. “That’s where I am in my own dating life,” Gina shares candidly. “After my 20-year marriage ended and eight years of difficult dating followed, I poured much of that honesty and humor into Rosie.”
While the theme of the anthology was set—Valentine’s Day Romance—Gina had the freedom to shape the characters and conflict. Rosie came to her first, fully formed and ready to spill some truth. The rest of the cast evolved organically, drawn from Gina’s roots in the vibrant Italian community of New York.
“Though there are some familiar stereotypes,” she says with a laugh, “they exist for a reason. But I also wanted to show the diversity and depth of personalities within an Italian-American family. I wanted readers to see themselves reflected in the pages.”
More than just a romantic tale, Gina’s story explores the many facets of love. From mother-daughter bonds to complicated exes, from the unspoken tenderness between fathers and sons to the loyalty of lifelong friendships—this story celebrates love in its richest, messiest, and most meaningful forms.
At the heart of it all? The timeless message of 1 Corinthians 13—what Gina calls “the Love Chapter.” “I hope readers walk away realizing that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about couples or grand gestures,” she says. “It’s about recognizing and celebrating all the love in our lives.”
While research often means scrolling Google Maps and interviewing locals, this time Gina had the chance to experience her setting firsthand. “I attended a wedding in New York while writing this book,” she says. “I rode the subway, explored Manhattan and the Bronx, and walked down Arthur Avenue in Little Italy—the very streets I wrote about.”
That real-life flavor shines in the setting, where Gina layered her Italian heritage with touches of Albanian culture and Catholic traditions like Candelora—blending authenticity with imagination.
And that’s the magic of Gina’s writing: even as she brings fictional characters to life, she’s also honoring her own legacy and inviting readers to do the same.
